CGPA to Percentage Calculator
Convert CGPA to percentage and back again in one tap. Uses the CBSE ×9.5 formula by default, with a custom multiplier and a credits-based CGPA/SGPA calculator too.
Convert your score
The ×9.5 rule is a CBSE convention. Universities like VTU and Anna use different formulas — pick Custom and enter your factor.
Percentage = CGPA × this number.
Enter your cumulative grade point average.
CGPA / SGPA from credits
Enter each subject's credits and grade point (0–10). We take the credit-weighted average: Σ(credit × grade point) ÷ Σ credits.
How this works
Most Indian boards report results as a grade point average. Converting to a percentage is a single multiplication — the trick is using the right factor for your board.
Pick a direction
Go CGPA → percentage for admissions and job forms, or percentage → CGPA when only a percentage is on your marksheet.
Choose your factor
CBSE multiplies by 9.5. If your college uses a different rule, switch to a custom multiplier so the maths matches your board.
Read the result
We show the converted number plus the exact formula, so you can reproduce it by hand or quote it with confidence.
The formulas we use
CGPA → Percentage
Example: a CGPA of 8.2 = 8.2 × 9.5 = 77.9%. Each subject's grade point can be converted the same way.
Percentage → CGPA
Example: 76% ÷ 9.5 = a CGPA of 8.0. Divide by your custom factor if you're not on the CBSE scale.
The ×9.5 multiplier is a CBSE convention and gives an indicative percentage, not an exact mark. Universities on a 10-point scale often differ — VTU commonly uses (CGPA − 0.75) × 10 and Anna University has its own formula, so use the custom option and always confirm with your institution's official rule before relying on the number.
