About the Days Between Dates Calculator

This calculator measures the exact duration between any two dates and shows it several useful ways at once: the total number of days, the same span as whole weeks (plus leftover days), a natural years-months-days breakdown, the total number of months, and the number of business days — weekdays only, with weekends removed. It's handy for counting down to a deadline, working out a notice period, checking how long a project ran, planning a trip, or figuring out someone's exact age in days.

  • Turn on “include the end date” when you're counting a stay or booking where the last day still counts.
  • Use the business-days figure for working-day deadlines — remember it doesn't remove public holidays.
  • All the math uses real calendar dates, so leap years and February 29th are handled for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are business days counted?
Business days are all the days in the range that fall on a weekday — Monday through Friday. Saturdays and Sundays are skipped. Public holidays are not removed, since holidays differ by country and region.
What's the difference between including and excluding the end date?
Excluding the end date counts the gap between the two dates — from the 1st to the 2nd is 1 day. Including the end date counts both days themselves — the 1st to the 2nd becomes 2 days. Use “include the end date” when you're counting a stay, a booking, or any span where the final day still counts.
Does it account for leap years?
Yes. The calculation uses real calendar dates, so leap years and their extra day (February 29th) are counted automatically. A range that crosses a leap day will include that day in the total.
What happens if the start date is after the end date?
The tool still works — it automatically measures the distance between the two dates and shows the result as a negative span, so you can see that the dates are the other way around. Swap them if you'd prefer a positive count.
What do the years, months and days figures mean?
That's the calendar breakdown of the same gap — for example 2 years, 3 months, 5 days. It follows how people naturally read a duration, adjusting for the different lengths of each month rather than assuming every month is 30 days.
Is my information sent anywhere?
No. All the date math happens in your browser — your dates never leave your device and nothing is uploaded.
