Frequently Asked Questions
How do I calculate the fuel cost of a trip?▼
Divide the trip distance by your vehicle's mileage to get the litres of fuel needed, then multiply by the fuel price per litre. For example, a 300 km trip at 15 km/l needs 20 litres; at ₹100/litre that is ₹2,000. This tool does the maths for you and adds cost per km and a per-person split.
What mileage (km/l) should I enter?▼
Use your real-world mileage, not the showroom figure. Fill the tank, drive normally, refill, and divide the kilometres driven by the litres added. City driving is usually lower than highway. Typical Indian cars run 12–20 km/l, bikes 40–60 km/l — but your actual number gives the most accurate cost.
Does this work for miles, mpg and dollars?▼
Yes. Switch the unit toggle to Imperial and enter distance in miles, efficiency in miles per gallon (mpg) and fuel price per gallon in dollars. The results then show gallons needed, total cost in $ and cost per mile. All other features work the same.
How does the round-trip option work?▼
Ticking round trip simply doubles the one-way distance before calculating fuel and cost, so you see the total for going and coming back. Leave it unticked for a one-way journey.
How is the per-person share calculated?▼
The total fuel cost is divided equally by the number of people you are splitting with. It is handy for carpools and road trips so everyone chips in a fair amount. Set it to 1 if you are travelling alone.
