How it works

Pick a category, choose your units, and type a value — the answer appears instantly.

This converter handles eight everyday categories: length, mass & weight, temperature, area, volume, speed, digital storage and time. Most units convert through a single precise base factor (for example, everything in length routes through metres), so results stay accurate even across very large or very small values.

Temperature is special. Celsius, Fahrenheit and Kelvin don't share a common zero point, so a simple ratio would give the wrong answer. We use the proper offset formulas instead — for example °F = °C × 9/5 + 32 and K = °C + 273.15 — so 0 °C correctly becomes 32 °F, not 0.

Everything runs locally in your browser with plain JavaScript. Nothing you type is uploaded or stored, there's no sign-up, and it works offline once the page has loaded.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which categories of units can I convert?
Eight everyday categories: length, mass & weight, temperature, area, volume, speed, digital storage and time. Pick a category from the tabs and choose your from- and to-units.
How accurate are the conversions?
Each category converts through a single precise base unit using standard factors — for example every length routes through metres and every mass through grams. Because the factors are exact (an inch is defined as 0.0254 m, a pound as 453.59237 g, and so on), results stay accurate even for very large or very small values.
Why is temperature handled differently?
Celsius, Fahrenheit and Kelvin don't share a common zero point, so a simple ratio would be wrong. The converter uses the proper offset formulas instead — for example °F = °C × 9/5 + 32 and K = °C + 273.15 — so 0 °C correctly becomes 32 °F, not 0.
Can I convert in both directions?
Yes. Type in the 'From' box to convert forward, or type in the 'To' box to convert backward — each updates the other live. There's also a swap button to flip the two units instantly.
Does digital storage use 1000 or 1024?
Digital storage steps in binary units of 1024, so 1 KB = 1024 bytes, 1 MB = 1024 KB, and so on, and 1 byte = 8 bits. Everything runs locally in your browser — nothing you type is uploaded or stored, and it works offline once loaded.
