What a PDF can quietly reveal

Metadata is baked into the file and follows it everywhere — email, uploads, shared drives. Stripping it before you send keeps this to yourself:

  • 🏷️ Title & subject — what the document is really about
  • ✍️ Author & creator — your name or account
  • 🕒 Dates — when it was made and last edited
  • 🛠️ Software — the exact app and version you used

How it works

Three steps. No sign-up, no upload, no wait.

1

Add your PDF

Drop in one PDF. We read its hidden details right here on your device.

2

Edit or strip

Change any field, or wipe them all with a single tap.

3

Download the new PDF

Save your updated file — created instantly, right in your browser.

🔒

Private by design. Everything happens right here in your browser. Your PDF is never uploaded — we never see it, and neither does anyone else.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is PDF metadata?
Hidden details stored inside the file — things like the title, author, subject, keywords, the software that made it, and the created and modified dates. They travel with the PDF wherever you send it.
What can I change?
You can edit the title, author, subject, keywords and the authoring app. A few details such as the producer and dates are shown as read-only so you can see exactly what's inside.
What does "Strip all metadata" do?
It clears the title, author, subject, keywords, software names and dates, and removes the embedded XMP data too, saving a clean copy. Your original file is left untouched.
Does editing metadata change the pages or content?
No. Only the hidden information fields are updated — the pages, text and images stay exactly as they were.
Why would I want to remove metadata before sharing?
Metadata can quietly reveal your name, your organisation or which software you used. Stripping it is a simple way to share a document without those extra details attached.
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything runs entirely in your browser on your own device. Your file is never uploaded and we never see it.
